Legacy Fund

“Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.” – Hosea 10:12

The vision for the Christ Community Chapel Legacy Fund is to have resources to facilitate the education of young leaders, plant churches, and make adoption possible for families who do not currently have the resources to cover the cost of bringing a new life into their home. It is not practical to include these types of projects into the yearly financial budget for Christ Community Chapel. Therefore the concept centers on having resources ready to bestow when opportunities present themselves to further the work of the Church and it impact for the Kingdom.

After the fund was announced in May of 2010, the leadership at Christ Community Chapel received a lot of valuable feedback, which has been taken into consideration. Following are some of the changes that have been made to the plan:

• “In His Steps Foundation” (IHS) is a local Kingdom ministry in Hudson Ohio that manages donor-advised funds. A donor-advised fund is one where IHS manages the funds and grants them according to the recommendations of the individuals identified by the “fund committee.” IHS will take care of all administrative work associated with donated funds and ensures that they are directed to certified 501 (c)(3) organizations. In their January meeting, the Elder Board approved IHS to manage the Legacy Fund and will serve as the Legacy Fund’s advisors – approving all disbursements.
• IHS will provide guidance to CCC members who are looking for help from Kingdom minded professionals to assist in their legacy planning.
• IHS will provide education and resources to individuals on the advantages of different gift options including:
  • traditional bequests
  • charitable gift annuities
  • charitable trusts
  • gifts of property (for which the individual receives a current tax benefit for gifting but may retain the right to use during lifetime)
